We are recruiting on behalf of a national construction training provider for a Lecturer in Lightning Protection to join their established training team at their Bircham Newton campus in Norfolk.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on industry expert to transition into a rewarding teaching career while staying closely connected to sector developments.

The Role
As a Tutor in Lightning Protection, you will deliver high-quality vocational training aligned to industry standards and the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. You will support instructors and assessors, contribute to quality assurance processes, and ensure learners develop the precise skills, behaviours, and technical understanding required within this specialist field.
This is a highly specialised position. Applications are welcomed from experienced Lightning Protection professionals — not general commercial electricians — with strong practical knowledge across installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance.
The role is primarily site-based in Norfolk, with occasional overnight stays across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Quality Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based sessions aligned with current industry standards
  • Support instructors and assessors through induction, probation and ongoing development
  • Conduct learning walks, desktop evaluations and internal quality reviews
  • Deliver CPD and personal development sessions
  • Liaise with awarding bodies and End Point Assessment Organisations
  • Monitor learner progress and contribute to review meetings
  • Provide learner guidance and support career progression
  • Promote safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusive learning environments
  • Maintain strong industry links and keep current with sector developments
Specialist Lightning Protection Duties
  • Install Lightning Protection System (LPS) components including air terminals, down conductors, earth electrodes and bonding
  • Conduct inspection, testing, fault-finding and maintenance of LPS
  • Produce surveys, condition reports and compliance documentation in line with BS EN 62305
  • Work safely at height (roofs, towers, scaffolds, MEWPs)
  • Liaise with clients and provide technical advice

Essential Qualifications
  • Level 2 vocational qualification with specific Lightning Protection training (e.g. Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation or relevant specialist earthing qualification)
  • S/NVQ Level 2 or 3 (e.g. Lightning Conductor Engineer or Lightning Protective Systems Inspecting & Testing)
  • Level 2 or above in English and Maths (or ability to demonstrate proficiency)
  • Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within 2 years)
  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve within 1 year)

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Significant hands-on industry experience within construction
  • Strong experience installing Lightning Protection Systems
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office 365

Desirable
  • Higher-level construction qualification
  • Higher-level education qualification
  • Experience delivering apprenticeships

If you are an experienced Lightning Protection professional looking to influence the future of the industry while enjoying strong benefits and long-term stability, we would welcome your application.
