Job Description
Join Thames Water as a Delivery Manager on a 12month secondment where you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic change and delivering complex initiatives that enhance our services, processes, and technology.
You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and business leaders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organisational objectives. This role requires a proactive, solution-focused approach to identify opportunities for improvement, manage risks, and ensure lasting operational impact.

What you’ll be doing as a Delivery Manager:
- Identify and define opportunities for improvement across people, processes, and technology within the Income (Household) area.
- Collaborate closely with process owners, stakeholders, and Heads of Department to enable and deliver change aligned with transformation objectives.
- Deliver initiatives using existing organisational capabilities, dedicated project teams, or agile methodologies through the product team.
- Ensure technical solutions are designed and implemented to meet business needs effectively
- Articulate clear problem statements and develop options for improvement, including actionable recommendations.
- Assess, manage, and mitigate risks associated with change initiatives.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of projects, from planning through to enduring handover to operational teams.
- Support continuous improvement by embedding sustainable changes into operational practices.
The key responsibilities are:
- Take full ownership of assigned initiatives, driving end-to-end delivery from concept to handover.
- Develop initiatives using a customer-centred approach, conducting business analysis and creating robust business cases.
- Apply a structured delivery methodology, including detailed planning and effective project management.
- Demonstrate tenacity and persistence to ensure initiatives are completed successfully.
- Engage and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholder groups, building trusted relationships.
- Influence stakeholders and manage relationships to secure alignment and buy-in for initiatives.
- Prioritise workload effectively based on business needs, impact, and value delivered.
- Champion the solution for initiatives by actively listening to end users, clarifying requirements, and ensuring they are prioritised appropriately.
- Provide clear problem statements to the delivery team and collaborate to develop solutions that meet business needs.
- Track and demonstrate progress by measuring the tangible business value delivered through initiatives.

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
- Manage stakeholders using a customer-centred approach, collaborating closely with business areas to understand issues, guide decisions, and positively challenge assumptions
- Maintain energy and focus throughout the full project lifecycle, from solution definition and design through to project closure.
- Effectively capture and document requirements through workshops, scenario planning, use cases, task analysis, and workflow mapping.
- Deliver continuous improvement initiatives and work successfully within cross-functional teams.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS DevOps; familiarity with SAP ISU and SAP C4C is desirable.
- Quickly understand business needs, environments, future trends, opportunities, and constraints across any business domain.
- Assess risks to the business, people, or customers and provide practical mitigation strategies
- Present complex analysis clearly and concisely to support informed, strategic decision-making.
- Conduct root cause analysis using data to identify underlying issues and inform solutions.
