Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Field Operations Manager to join our waste Network operations team in the Thames Valley.

This is a high-profile Operations role; you will be responsible for leading a team of front-line field engineers to ensure the operational management of our wastewater services to our customers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a frontline workforce. It is a wide-ranging role, with each day different from the last, posing unique challenges. Your role involves ensuring your team work safely and delivers excellent customer service. You will develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including the planning teams, key contractors and other external stakeholders.

This position is a mixture of office /field-based, the percentage split based on changing business needs and challenges (average 60/40 split).

What you’ll be doing as the Field Operations Manager
  • Take responsibility for safe working practices for you and your team that comply with the company's safe system of work.
  • You will guide, coach, and develop a field team to fulfil the business needs.
  • You will develop and implement continuous improvements to optimise operational performance and customer service.
  • Lead and develop the team members by setting measurable goals and promoting a culture of engagement and motivation.
  • Control team unit costs to outperform budget whilst ensuring all service level agreements are fulfilled.
What you should bring to the role as a Field Operations Manager:
  • Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves in the team around them. You need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you, and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times, but very rewarding too.
  • Having previous experience in leading a high-performing team of Operational staff is preferred but not essential.
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
  • Deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team.
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through the SAP system; user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
  • Have a full, valid UK driving license, as travelling to other sites and fields will be required
