ASD Teaching Assistant

Are you a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD)? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils on the autism spectrum and help them access learning in a structured, nurturing environment.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD
  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
  • Support communication, sensory and social development
  • Implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
  • Use visual timetables, structured routines and ASD-friendly approaches
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Full-time, long-term role with potential to become permanent

✅ Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD (school, care or similar)
  • Patient, calm and consistent approach
  • Good understanding of autism-friendly strategies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant TA/SEN qualification desirable but not essential
