Job Description
SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
Do you want a full academic year in a primary school where you support pupils in KS1 or KS2, and see progress build through consistent routines and joined-up SEN support?
*** SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 until July 2027
*** £83 - £102 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** 1:1, small group and classroom support across KS1 or KS2
The Role:
You will work across KS1 or KS2, supporting pupils who need extra help to access learning, stay regulated, and make progress in class. Your day will blend classroom support with targeted 1:1 and small group sessions, built around clear outcomes agreed with the class teacher and SENCO. You will follow pupil plans and use consistent strategies, so pupils get the same message from every adult. In class, you will scaffold learning through chunked instructions, modelling, guided practice, visual prompts, and quick check-ins. In interventions, you will focus on the barriers holding pupils back, early literacy, basic number, attention and task-start, organisation, communication, and confidence. You will spot issues early, help pupils reset calmly, and keep routines predictable so learning stays on track.
You will keep brief, factual notes on what worked and what changed, then feedback to staff so support stays focused and gets reviewed through the assess, plan, do, review cycle.
Safeguarding sits inside your day. You follow school policy, report concerns, and keep professional boundaries.
The Candidate:
You bring calm consistency, clear communication, and strong boundaries. You build trust through reliability, and you stay steady when pupils struggle.
The School:
You will join a ‘Good’ primary school in Wolverhampton where routines and expectations stay consistent across classrooms, so pupils respond quickly and support stays effective. SEN support is planned into the week, not squeezed in, with clear priorities, timetabled intervention where needed, and regular check-ins between teachers and support staff. You will work in a team where staff share strategies and align on how to support pupils, so you are not left guessing. The ‘Good’ judgement refers to the school’s published inspection outcome, with Ofsted reporting now moving toward report cards under the newer framework.
Apply Now:
Send your CV to be considered. If shortlisted, you will get a call to confirm your availability for September 2026, your experience with children, and whether you feel stronger in KS1 or KS2. Safeguarding and compliance checks follow, then the school stage is arranged in good time for a September start.
Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
