Job Description
Academic Coach
Do you want a school-based role where you support pupils across subjects, build serious classroom experience, and see progress week by week?
*** Academic Coach
*** Easter or September start until July 2027
*** £85 - £105 per day
*** School based in Holbrooks, Coventry
*** 1:1 and small group support across subjects
The Role:
You will support pupils across KS3 and KS4 through a mix of in-class support, 1:1 sessions, and small group intervention. Your job is to remove the barriers that stop pupils learning well. You will help pupils build routines, confidence, and subject skills across a range of lessons, with a focus on the core areas schools track most closely.
You will deliver short, structured sessions linked to classroom learning, so pupils practise the same objectives with more repetition and clearer steps. You will model the task, guide practice, then move pupils to an independent attempt with quick checks so you spot gaps early and tighten next steps. You will support reading and writing where literacy blocks progress in other subjects, reinforce numeracy skills needed for maths and science, and help pupils organise work, revise effectively, and respond to feedback. You will keep brief session notes and feed back to teachers so support stays aligned to current topics and assessment priorities. KS3 covers a broad compulsory curriculum and KS4 builds toward qualifications, so your support will stay practical and outcomes focused.
The Candidate:
You bring calm energy, clear communication, and consistency. You build trust through routines and boundaries. You want a role where you support learning properly, not hover at the back of the room.
The School:
You will work in Holbrooks, Coventry, a residential area in the north of the city. You will join a setting where support is planned into the week, with clear routines, defined priorities, and staff who share expectations across classrooms. You will be given direction on focus pupils, session goals, and who to report to, so your support stays consistent and your impact is easy to track.
Apply Now:
Send your CV to be considered. If shortlisted, you will get a call to confirm your start date, your experience with young people, and your confidence supporting pupils across subjects. Checks follow, then the school stage is arranged quickly to match the start window.
Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
