Wellness checks will support a more neurodiverse workforce

Workers should have psychological fitness checks every six months to help support neurodivergent individuals in the workplace and prevent burnout.

The recommendation came from experts on a webinar hosted by Pertemps Network Group, attended by more than 200 senior professionals across the industry, focused on supporting neurodiverse people in work.

The session featured insights from Maggie Armstrong, Founder of The Neuroverse, a management consultancy firm focused on inclusive workplaces, and Mandy Elliot, of The Focus Academy, a non-pharmaceutical neurocognitive training centre.

Psychological fitness assessments – designed to evaluate emotional resilience and mental wellbeing – were highlighted as a proactive tool for identifying stress, reducing risk of burnout and ensuring ongoing support for all employees.

Mandy said: “Psychological fitness tests don’t only support neurodiverse people but can help all of us identify when we might be burning out.”

The panellists stressed that neurodiversity support should be embedded in everyday business practices, including recruitment, management training and workplace design. Regular mental health check-ins were positioned as a crucial step toward achieving more inclusive and high-performing work environments.
