JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary responsibility of a General Operative in the warehouse is to support the overall functioning of the warehouse by performing various tasks. This includes but is not limited to loading and unloading goods, packing and unpacking items, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations..
  • Arrange and organize products within the warehouse..
  • Be adaptable to changes in tasks or schedules as required by the warehouse's operational needs..
  • Complete paperwork and documentation related to shipping, receiving, and inventory..
  • Coordinate with other departments to fulfil orders and resolve issues..
  • Ensure accuracy in record-keeping..
  • Ensure accurate and efficient handling of goods to prevent damage..
  • Ensure the safe and proper use of warehouse machinery..
  • Inspect products for defects or damage..
  • Interact with drivers, vendors, and other warehouse visitors in a professional and courteous manner..
  • Keep track of inventory levels and report any discrepancies..
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment..
  • Pack and label products according to specified guidelines..
  • Perform regular stock checks and update inventory records..
  • Physically load and unload materials from trucks or other vehicles..
  • Pick items from shelves or storage areas based on customer orders..
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of goods..
  • Report any issues with the quality of goods received or shipped..
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly..
  • The role may involve lifting heavy items, so physical fitness and the ability to handle manual labor are important..
  • Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move and store materials..
  • Work closely with team members and communicate effectively..
